Available in eight sizes, as well as several bundle options, Stasher bags can hold everything from a single serving of trail mix to a marinated salmon fillet. While they perform reliably well, the seal is more cumbersome to use and it’s harder to tell if the bag is fully sealed. While I could confidently close the Oxo bag with one swipe of my finger across the seal, it took more force to close the Stasher bag. As someone who loves to try new recipes and cooking techniques, I like the flexibility that silicone provides. 

A major complaint I have of plastic food storage is how easily it stains and retains smells. In my testing, I packed both the Stasher and Oxo bags with black bean chili and a cabbage dish with turmeric, and I was happy to find that neither had a lingering smell or any stains after cleaning them in the dishwasher. 

How sturdy are they?

Neither brand’s bags are completely leakproof. When I filled both up with water, sealed them and shook each bag vigorously, the seals eventually gave way and water spilled out. That said, for everyday use when the bags were more securely stored either in my fridge or lunchbox, I had no problems with leakage. 

Which silicone food storage bags are right for you?

If you’re looking to replace your current food storage system, it’s hard to go wrong with Oxo or Stasher. Almost any home chef or meal prepper will find silicone food storage bags to be an upgrade, especially if you’re switching from plastic. Oxo’s have a slight advantage, since they’re easier to seal and resist dust and hair better than Stasher’s lineup. They’re similar in price, though most of Oxo’s are a few dollars more and Stasher’s are often marked down at Amazon.
